When you’ve been arrested, you’re going to want to get out of jail quickly. In order to do this, you’re going to need to pay a bail amount to the jail. However, if you do not have the cash on hand to cover the full amount of the bail, it is possible for you to get a bail bond so you can be released. In many cases, you may even be able to get one of the 24 Hour Bail Bonds in Dekalb County so you don’t have to wait until normal business hours to be released. There are two different ways you can cover the necessary payment for a bail bond.

Percentage

When the bail amount is too high for you to pay in full, one of the most common ways you can cover a bond is by paying a percentage of the bail amount to a bondsman. You’ll then have to sign a contract agreeing to show up to your court hearings, otherwise you will have to cover the full bail amount and you will have a bench warrant for your arrest.

Collateral

If you cannot pay a percentage of the bail amount, which is common when the bail amounts are very large, you can instead give something as collateral for the bond. If you do not show for your hearings, you will lose your collateral. If you do go to your hearings, however, you will be able to receive your collateral back when your hearings have been completed. Common forms of collateral are titles to homes, cars or boats.

Remember, if you don’t go to your hearings, your contract with the bondsman will be considered broken and you will have a bench warrant for your arrest. You will also need to repay the full bail amount or forfeit your collateral. If you do go to your hearings, you will not need to pay and further money and you can receive your collateral back.
