A consumer that purchases a new vehicle in the state of Mississippi is automatically covered under Mississippi Lemon laws. The coverage is limited to 12 months from the Date the vehicle was purchased. A used car can be covered by the law as well it might be eligible as well.

? * An attempt has been made to repair the same defect or nonconformity by either the vehicle manufacturer or an agent of the manufacturer three times or more and the defect continues to exist.
? * The vehicle is not available for use by the owner due to the defect for a cumulative total of 15 or more working days since the vehicle was conveyed to the owner.
The 15 days noted exclude any days that the vehicle would have been out of commission anyway for routine maintenance that is prescribed in the owner?s manual.
Before you can petition for a refund of the purchase price or a replacement vehicle you and the manufacturer must go through the manufacturer?s dispute program, not all vehicle manufacturers have this which leaves settlement to the courts.
