Most community-based youth organizations are constantly struggling with budget issues. In many of these organizations, professional development for youth workers may not always be recognized as a priority due to the high cost of many speakers, trainers, and programs.
At YIPA, we believe that professional development for youth workers does not have to be costly or difficult to provide for staff. We have created options that make it possible for an individual youth worker or an organization to take advantage of low-cost memberships to complete their professional development needs year after year.
The Art & Science of Youth Work Certificate
This is a comprehensive option for professional development for youth workers. It is a module style self-paced training that is completed online. The youth worker can work through modules and write the unit tests and final tests at their own pace.
This certificate covers eight critical focus areas. These are the areas youth workers need to be aware of in providing services, connecting with the youth in their community, staying ethical, and improving their communication and youth worker skills.
Individual Training On-Demand
Both live and on-demand training options provide short, one or two hour videos on specific core and timely topics. This is an excellent opportunity for youth workers to have a clear understanding of how to handle specific situations or to learn the skills needed to interact with the youth more effectively in their community.
