There are so many stressors on a new mom’s plate. Between making sure the baby is okay and taking care of the household, it can be a full-time job on its own. Then, when maternity leave is over, many moms go through the anxious emotions that are related to leaving their babies. The first year can be a challenging one for many reasons. However, there are plenty of ways to thrive through it all. Consider the following two tips.
1. Physical Exercise
Physical exercise is paramount. At first, the doctor might restrict you to light walking because your body has to heal after delivery. However, once your doctor gives you clearance, you can sign up for a fitness program for moms. You can enjoy some of your favorite machines, such as the treadmill and the elliptical. Regular exercise can also help to decrease stress and anxiety.
2. Schedules and Preparation
Most mothers can thrive when they stick to a schedule. Granted, many things might come in the way to derail the plan. However, if you’re intentional about doing your best to be as prepared as you can be, you’ll put yourself in a better position. This is why it’s great to find time to prepare meals, get your hair done, and order new diapers online. Before you go to bed each night, create a list of tasks you need to complete the next day. When everything is written down, it’s easier to remember what you need to accomplish.
While this might be a season that presents its fair share of challenges, know that you can get through it. Connect with one of your best friends over dinner. Create time in your schedule to get a pedicure. Before long, you’ll be in a great position to succeed as a mom who’s in control of her life.
