Having an effective and safe option to anchor and support displays, fixtures, lamps, and lighting as well as signage in stores, venues, commercial buildings, studios, or other locations is essential. Unfortunately, many of the display bases sold with equipment are light, flimsy, and not designed to stand up to use.

This becomes a liability issue. Using a base offering greater stability and protection for the device, as well as less risk of being toppled and causing injury or damage, is always a recommendation. In situations where the display or device attached to the base is in areas of foot traffic, or when it is outdoors and exposed to possible windy conditions, it becomes even more of an essential choice.

When selecting any of the options in display bases, there are several factors to keep in mind. Taking the time to evaluate the demands on the base before placing the order ensures the base can stand up to use with any display, device, or lighting needs.

Weight and Material

In general, metal bases, particularly heavy gauge steel, provide the greatest amount of weight for the size. In addition, heavy gauge steel lasts a lifetime, and it can be chromed, painted or powder coated to match a fixture or to blend into flooring.

The weight of the base is dependent upon the weight of the display or the item attached to the base, as well as the type of stability required. The lighter the base weight, the lighter the display, and the lower the ability to withstand being bumped, blown, or hit without causing it to topple.

Shape Considerations

Most display bases are either round, square, or rectangular in shape. They can be flat across the entire surface, or they can be flanged, which gives a beveled edge to provide additional height.

Holes can be pre-cut and threaded into the base as needed, and customer manufacturing can even allow for wires to run through the base in holes drilled in the sides for level positioning.
