• 150 semester hours of academic credit from an accredited institution

• The passing of the licensing test with no lower than seventy-five

• One-year minimum work experience

Tax accountants can be simple tax preparers with a background in accounting. They can also be those who have a bachelor’s degree in accounting. A CPA can also perform the duties required by a tax agent. All must be licensed.

A tax accountant must be able to know all the rules and regulations related to the calculation and preparation of all types of income tax. Whether it is municipal, state or federal, s/he must be able to prepare and file the correct tax forms making sure they are in complete compliance with all regulatory bodies.
