CDS Welding

It presents a clean, smooth surface for viewing. In fact, it is even possible to finish the reverse side before welding.

By employing CDS, the metal shop can join dissimilar materials. Its most common usage is to weld the fasteners or studs on thinner bases. It is a popular way of attaching small to medium diameter studs to thin workpieces of sheet metal. In fact, the base metal receiving the weld may be as thin as 0.02 inches.

The speed of the process is measured in milliseconds. At the same time, a skilled stud gun welder using CDS does not – even at this speed – create a product without burn through, discoloration or distortion. You can paint the reverse side before welding without worrying about damage to the finish.
