Honolulu was where it all began. On October 17th, 1966, the first ever Zippy’s opened. Founded by Francis and Charles Higa, that one little restaurant has since grown into an extensive chain of twenty-two Zippy’s Restaurants spread out all over the island of Oahu and now expanding onto the neighboring island of Maui.

What Zippy’s Is Known For
Zippy’s reputation was built upon its most famous single offering, the Original Recipe Chili. Standing out amongst a wide selection of chili dishes is no mean feat, and the Original Recipe has created its own legend over the years since the first bowl was laid down before the first customer on King Street in Honolulu. Today, this one item sells at a rate of 100 tons a month through every Zippy’s in Hawaii, in supermarkets, and through special fundraising activities, Zippy’s participated in throughout the year.
Today, the menu has expanded into a very wide variety of traditional and native dishes. Daily lunch specials on everything from Mahi-Mahi to Mushroom Burgers are found to delight any palate, whether it’s a take-out, a sit-down serving, or from the lunch counter. And nearly any item on that menu is available through 24 hours, which is perfect for the late-night and all-night crowd.

Every Zippy’s has a rotating selection of daily specials, take-out offerings, special Zip Pacs and Mini Pacs, salad selections and Pupu platters for healthier dining, and a good variety of soups and chili dishes.
