Are you building or upgrading a large facility with bathrooms? If so, you’ll have a lot of plumbing decisions to make, and you need to choose hand washing and drying equipment. Most companies today see the benefits in hand dryers over paper towels, but you have two basic choices for dryers. You could use manual push-button units or an automatic system like the Dyson Airblade hand dryer. So which is the right one? Here are some things to consider, to help you decide.

Push-Button Dryers

Manual hand dryers are simple and cost effective. Anyone can use them, and they offer push-button operation on a timer. For example, to dry your hands, you push the button. The heater and fan come on for 15 seconds or so, and then they shut off.

If your organization has a limited budget, manual dryers are a good choice. They are durable and last for a long time. However, push-button dryers are easily vandalized, and if this is a concern, you may want to install automatic dryers.

Automatic

When someone uses a Dyson Airblade hand dryer, they receive clean and hygienic service. They don’t have to touch paper towel dispensers or dryer buttons. This is important because cold viruses and many pathogens are transferred from one hand to another.

Since automated dryers are not timed, you save a lot of energy. For example, suppose a manual dryer is set for 30 seconds. When someone leaves after 15 seconds, the rest of the energy is wasted. Also, if someone needs 40 seconds, they waste 20 seconds of drying time. This doesn’t happen with automated systems like the Dyson Airblade hand dryer. As soon as the person removes their hands from the sensor, it shuts off. This saves your organization a lot of money on electricity and keeps from heating up the facility in warm weather.
